Knut Hansen Gin was launched in 2017 by friends Kaspar Kagedorn and Martin Spiek who began experimenting with recipes in 2016 using a table-top still in Martin's living room. The first batches were distilled at Dollerup Distillery before Kaspar and Martin established Hamburg Distillery and began distilling in-house in 2019. Their gin is inspired by and named after the legendary German sailor and explorer, Knut Hansen, who was from Hamburg and is depicted on the ceramic bottles.
